Times gone past and the little porcelin weather poodle

Does anyone remember the porcelin weather poodle?
That cute little poodle who mysteriously changed his color and to this young girl...it was for no apparent reason. Well for years that poodle sat in the window sill of the kitchen looking out as though it guarded us from the elements.

I loved that little poodle and when I was alittle older I asked the question of my dad " how does the poodle change its color" and that is when my Dad sat me on his knee and began to explain the mystery as to how the poodle changed his color.

Now years later...and I mean years...I still have a connection to that long lost poodle of years gone by.
These years who needs the poodle when they have me...
I'm not as cute as that perky little porcelin poodle and you won't find me perched upon the kitchen sill but you will know by looking at me what the weather is going to bring.
I have suffered for many years with overactive T cells...in other words psoriasis.
Just what causes T cells to malfunction in people with psoriasis isn't entirely clear, although researchers think genetic and environmental factors both play a role.
And thats where the connection between the poodle and I come together.
For years suffering from psoriasis, I have tried every ointment, salve and over the counter medicines they have out there. Holding on to my strenght of resistence to not use the shots or pills that are out there where the side effects, to me, far out weigh my condition of psoriasis.
I have finally come to find a resonable relief for my ichy and flakey skin.
If your like me and don't want to invade your body with Biologics and gamble with the side effects then maybe you may find comfort in a few things I have found to be comforting and manageable.

Watkins,  which is a company thats been trusted since 1868 with their natural and organic products has some pretty good products that help me deal with my condition.
If you'd like to see those products simply click on the word Watkins and it will take you to see my favorites that I use and then while your there take alook at all the other great products they have.By the way,  the era of the porcelin poodle also was shared by Watkins products that my mom kept on hand, like their famous award winning Vanilla.

Watkins...past n present

Watkins History

The J.R. Watkins Company History 1868

Watkins was founded by Joseph R. Watkins in 1868 in Plainview, Minnesota. That's 139 years ago! In 1868, the Civil War had just ended and was a recent memory to everyone at the time. Andrew Johnson was President of the United States taking over from Abraham Lincoln who was recently assassinated. "J. R. Watkins Medical Company", (the original name) is still inscribed on the face of Watkins headquarters building, a constant reminder of Watkins roots in the health and nutrition fields. Medicinal products were the company's specialty -- liniments, salves and other home remedies.

The still famous Red Liniment was his first product, Watkins had grown from a one-man operation to one of the largest direct selling companies in the world today. J.R. began the tradition of selling all natural products, traveling around the countryside, delivering his liniment door to door from the rear of his horse drawn wagon.Innovative concepts such as the "trial mark" and offering a money back guarantee made Watkins a pioneer in the direct selling industry. J. R. had a special "Trial Mark" molded into the bottle. He would leave the bottle with the customer upon payment and if the product had not been used past the mark by his next visit, the customer could get a full refund of their purchase price.

Watkins moved 25 miles south in 1885, to Winona, Minnesota, a booming logging town on the banks of the Mississippi River. . Watkins corporate headquarters has been located  near the banks of the Mississippi River since 1911. At the time of his death in 1911, J. R. Watkins had more than 2,500 people selling his liniment door-to-door. This is the first recorded network marketing endeavor.

By 1920 the product line reached 100 selections. One of the most colorful offerings is Egyptian Bouquet Talcum Powder. In 1922 Herb tablets (vitamins) were introduced; Watkins was well ahead of its time in realizing the benefits of vitamins. These “vitamins” supported the Watkins tradition of natural products, which continues today in the form of cutting-edge dietary supplements.
By 1928 Watkins received the Gold Medal honors at the Paris International Exposition for vanilla, black pepper, cinnamon and other ground spices; the award sealed the company's reputation for providing high-quality gourmet ingredients. Today an entire line of Organic Spices fill the product category. Things were taking off and by 1940 Watkins offered over 200 products and 10,000 sales associates covered the US & Canada.

During the war in 1942, ninety percent of Watkins production capacity is dedicated to the WWII allied effort. Products included Pure Dried Whole Eggs, Dessert Powder, Gelatin Desserts, Lemon Juice Powder, Orange Beverage Base Powder, Louse Powder, and Insecticide Powder for Body Crawling Insects.

1955 Watkins first major national advertising campaign captures the imagination of a new generation of consumers. The ads appeared in magazines such as Better Homes and Gardens, the Saturday Evening Post, Ebony, Ladies Home Journal, Reader's Digest, McCall's, and Look. Watkins ads appear in the 60’s live on NBC's "Today" show hosted by Dave Garroway.

In 1978 ownership of the 110-year-old industry leading and innovative company is transferred from the Watkins family to Minneapolis entrepreneur Irwin Jacobs and his family and a new era begins. Nearly twenty years later in 1997 Mark Jacobs, son of the CEO Irwin, was named president. Mark’s extensive Network Marketing background helped to refine and expand this legendary product line. Completing the journey from Liniment to Linimax and the return to home remedy/natural wellness products, Watkins Today is recognized as the benchmark that all others are compared to.

Over 139 years later, Watkins still offers Red Liniment as well as 350 products to make you feel better, live longer and preserve the well-being of our planet. Today, instead of the Watkins Man making horse and buggy deliveries, Watkins products are handled by more than 80,000 Independent Associates throughout the United States and Canada, with orders processed using state-of-the-art technology and promptly shipped for delivery direct to your home or business. J. R.'s Watkins Red Liniment launched a company that has created careers for hundreds of thousands of Watkins men and women over the years.
Now we come to the point of this small history lesson.
I hope you've made it this far!

As I get older waking without some aches and pains is rare, not as active as I would like to be and I have certainly never been the one to devote extensive time or anytime for that matter to exercise.

Yes, I say everyday to myself I need to exercise but by the time I get up go to work and come home to start my home duties I'm beat.

So I'm working on life from another angle and YES, I'm going to work on the exercise thing too.

I'm going to start with  eliminating toxins from my body and my life.
Since toxins can leave you feeling sluggish, achy, heavy, and out-of-shape and they can also be a factor in  the development of chronic diseases like cancer, arthritis, allergies, and many other serious conditions, here’s where I'm going to start and maybe you'll want to too.

I'm going to use WATKINS PRODUCTS to help me.

1. I'm going to eat  and cook with organics and use natural products as much as possible. Most foods contain harmful pesticides and genetically-modified organisms.

2. I 'm trying to make a large component of my diet raw vegetables and juices. It’s easy when you eat a large salad daily and drink plenty of water.
3. Engage in periodic cleanses or detox programs: one day a week, a weekend every month, or a longer detox in the spring and fall.

4.Seeing how I don't have excess to a sauna I will exercise  to help eliminate toxins through the skin in sweat. Of course, I will consult my physician prior to starting a  regime.

5. Stretch daily: I picked a yoga dvd and I'm learning the routine.

6. I have altered from chemical cleaning products in favor of natural cleaning ones.

7. I am also avoiding chemical pesticides at home.

8. I am reading labels on food products and avoid those with which I am not familiar with.

9. I'm staying away from synthetic chemicals in personal care products and cosmetics. I make it a practice to read labels and avoid those ingredients with which I'm unfamiliar. No label? I avoid the product. I'm definitely avoiding any containing: parabens, diethanolamine (DEA), or phthalates.

10. I'm drinking Watkins Immunergy to give my immune system a natural boost and maintain healthy energy levels with this exclusive antioxidant blend of eight fruit and herb seed powders and D-Ribose.

11. As we age, I learned that we lose the cushioning in our joints, causing pain and stiffness. Glucosamine helps to keep joints cushioned and well-lubricated.* Plus, with Watkins Linimax, I get added antioxidants along with boswellia, curcumin and ginger, shown to reduce the body's production of pain-causing compounds.*

12. Then theres the Exercise, going to give it a good 45 minutes daily.

I think I'm heading in the right direction but with all that smart stuff I'm going to do I went one step further. I got money wise on top of that. After doing research on different products I found WATKINS PRODUCTS  to be the purest I could find.

So my choice was Watkins and I found that I could also earn all my products for free or at a reduced price...and the best part to that is I started my own business to work from home...

Watkins is totally a family friendly business...I am in complete control of my time and income

Earn Extra Income Selling Watkins Products

Are you one of the 500,000 workers laid off in America?  If so, consider starting a Watkins home-based business now and never be worried about job layoffs again.  No, Watkins is not an opportunity to instantly replace all of the income you’ve been accustomed to immediately, or even within a few weeks or months.  But Watkins is a real, honest, down-to-earth business opportunity that will provide you the means and ways to ultimately build a full-time income working only part-time hours on a consistent basis.
Can you earn more from a Watkins business than you’ve been accustomed to in your former career?  By all means, but once again, the truly big income from running a Watkins business will come in 3 to 5 years, once you’ve had a chance to build a customer base and a large downline sales organization.
Consider why you should explore this opportunity now:
  1. Watkins is America’s oldest network marketing company, founded in 1868 – 141 years ago.
  2. Watkins has an impeccable reputation, know for “timeless integrity.”
  3. Watkins manufactures and sells 350 products for the home, family and personal use.  Thus, the minute you start a Watkins business you have a large company and a huge product base behind you.
  4. Watkins product are manufactured with the utmost care, to the highest standards, often exceeding the standards of competitive products by wide margins.
  5. Watkins cuts no corners in making products.  Great examples of this would be Watkins cinnamon and black pepper.  Both are 100% pure ground cinnamon and black pepper, with no inert fillers like you’ll find in store-bought cinnamon and black pepper.  This means Watkins cinnamon  taste stronger, fresher and more flavorful than other brands.
  6. Watkins not only survived the Great Depression of the late 1920′s, it was one of a small handful of American companies that actually grew, increasing sales and adding jobs during the depression.
  7. Numerous Watkins products are recession proof.  Everyone needs cooking oils, seasonings, flavors, extracts, toilet bowl cleaner, detergent, soaps, insecticides, etc. during good times and bad.
  8. Watkins products are products that consumer use every day and order again and again — what I call “perfect” products for a network marketing company.
  9. Watkins compensation plan is one of the best in the business.  You start off making 25% on products and this can grow to as high as 39% based on total sales by you and your downline.
  10. Being a network marketing company, you not only earn money from your sales, but from sales made by associates you recruit, associates they recruit, etc.
There are several ways to market Watkins products, including craft show sales, catalog sharing, trade shows, Living Naturally parties and online marketing.  I specialize in training new associates how to build very successful Watkins businesses online and have had great success selling Watkins products and sponsoring new associates using online marketing techniques.
The Watkins business model is designed to start as a part-time business and build over time.  If you’re unemployed you can obviously build your Watkins business much faster.  Craft shows, Living Naturally parties and encouraging new associates to Watkinize their own homes can quickly earn you several hundred to $1,000 per month pretty quickly.  Taking your business beyond that will require a focus on both selling and sponsoring.
I can teach you how to automate both of these processes using online methods developed by the Summit Group.  The Summit Group is an elite group of Watkins associates I belong to that offers all its members superb online training tools and sales aids.  I’ve learned how to wire these tools into my own online business model to put much of my Watkins business on autopilot.  I can do the same for you.

Happy Thanksgiving

On Thanksgiving Day we’re thankful for
Our blessings all year through,
For family we dearly love,
For good friends, old and new.For sun to light and warm our days,
For stars that glow at night,
For trees of green and skies of blue,
And puffy clouds of white. We’re grateful for our eyes that see
The beauty all around,
For arms to hug, and legs to walk,
And ears to hear each sound. The list of all we’re grateful for
Would fill a great big book;
Our thankful hearts find new delights
Everywhere we look!
